Smoke alarms saved our lives, say Mansfield fire victims
(chad.co.uk)
A MANSFIELD couple who escaped an
early morning fire at their home believe their lives were saved by
the smoke alarms which woke them up.
Mr. and Mrs. Blythe, of Wentbridge
Drive, were woken at around 4.20am on Friday when the heater in
their airing cupboard caught fire.
Firefighters from Mansfield, Blidworth and Ashfield attended the
incident and quickly dealt with the blaze.
There was some smoke and water damage to the property, but the
couple told Chad they were just happy to be alive.
"There was lots of smoke and it built up very, very quickly," said
Mr. Blythe.
And his wife added: "If it wasn't for the smoke alarms we would not
be having this conversation.
"They definitely saved our lives and saved us a lot of damage to the
house."
