Sprinkler System
Saves Bothell Restaurant
Kirsten Clemens
(Bothell, WA USA) –
Fire sprinklers likely saved Canyons Restaurant (22010 17th Avenue,
Bothell) from significant damage and possibly complete destruction.
This morning at 12:26 a.m., City of Bothell Fire and E.M.S.
responded to the Bothell restaurant where fire crews found smoke and
fire coming from the building. The single sprinkler head was
located directly above the fire and extinguished the flames very
quickly. The fire was started by a combustible material too close
to the commercial water heater. The damage to the building was
limited to the water heater closet with an estimated loss of
approximately $5,000. There are no injuries reported at this time.
“Installing fire
sprinkler systems in your business or home is an extremely effective
way to protect lives and property,” says City of Bothell Fire and
E.M.S. Fire Marshal Denny Wright. “Thanks to this fire sprinkler
system, the damage to Canyons Restaurant was very minimal.”
The City of Bothell
Fire and E.M.S. strongly urges everyone to practice business and
home escape routes frequently and identify a meeting place outside.
Additionally, practice crawling low to the ground when escaping a
fire. Protect your family by having several working smoke alarms
installed in your home.
