Rules:
The Rules governing Membership of
FPANZ are set out in Clause 7.0 of the Constitution. The FPANZ
Board decides whether to admit an applicant as a Member and the
class of membership. The Board’s decision is final and it is not
obliged to give a reason for its decision.
Classes of Membership
There is a two-tier membership
structure – ORDINARY
MEMBER and ASSOCIATE
MEMBER - catering for business, institutional and individual
members.
Criteria for Membership
To
be an ORDINARY MEMBER,
the applicant must:

Be a formally constituted business entity

Be solvent;

Be reputable;

Have been active (or at least one of its senior management staffs must have been involved) in providing goods and services related to fire protection or
fire safety, for a minimum of 24 months prior to the date of application;

Hold current valid Public Liability insurance to a minimum value of $2,000,000.
To
be an ASSOCIATE MEMBER,
the applicant must:

Be a formally constituted recognised body;

Be solvent;

Be reputable;
Code
of Ethical Conduct
All members are subject to the FPANZ
Code of Ethical Conduct and the FPANZ Complaints and
Disciplinary Procedures.
This Code
protects the integrity of the FPANZ brand by setting standards
of behaviour expected of all Members in relation to their work
and their dealings with customers, stakeholders, regulators,
other members and the public, and provides for a transparent
policy and process to consider any complaints against any
Member, consistent with current expectations of a professional
body.

FPANZ Logo
All
FPANZ members who wish to use and access the FPANZ trademarked
logo on business stationery, marketing collateral and their
website (but NOT on vehicles), are required to complete the
Declaration of Acceptance.
Members who have not signed this Declaration of
Acceptance must submit a request in writing to the FPANZ Board
seeking permission to use the FPANZ Logo.

Membership Structure and Subscriptions
Please read the information below outlining the categories
before completing an application form.
Ordinary Membership
Ordinary Members
are: individuals,
companies and organisations who provide fire protection and fire
safety goods and services (including consultancy services) for a
fee. They include companies, partnerships, sole-traders, trusts
and incorporated bodies established for the purpose of providing
goods and services related to the design, manufacture, supply,
installation, testing, inspection, certification, monitoring,
servicing, and maintenance of fire protection systems, product
and equipment.
Membership is under the legal name of the business entity and
not individual employees.
Subscription:
Annual Membership
subscription is made up of a Membership Fee plus a Capitation
Fee:
Membership Fee
$550.00 (+gst) p.a.
Capitation
Fee
$80.50 (+gst) per Equivalent Full-Time Employee (EFTE).
For the
purposes of calculating the capitation fee,
Equivalent Full-Time Employee (EFTE) means
the
number of staff employed or contracted by the member in
providing fire protection and fire protection related goods and
services for the equivalent of 37.5 hours per week, when their
collective number of work hours are combined.
Employees includes
but is not limited to: all full-time, part-time and contract
(external and internal)
technical staff (whether office or
site-based); designers and engineers; project managers; managers
and supervisors of staff; sales and customer services staff;
accounts staff; inspectors, testers, surveyors and/or
certifiers; and
those working in manufacture, fabrication, distribution and
installation of fire protection products and systems.

Associate Membership
Associate Members are:
organisations with an interest in fire protection and fire
safety but who are not directly involved in providing goods and
services (including consultancy services) related to fire
protection and fire safety. Membership is under the organisation
name and not individual employees.
Examples of Associate Members include property owners,
facilities managers, allied industry associations/bodies,
Territorial Authorities, government agencies, tertiary education
institutions, industry training organizations, District Health
Boards etc.

subscription is made up of a Membership Fee only:

Special Interest Groups
FPANZ has formed the
following special interest groups to increase the level of
member services:

Fighting Equipment Group
Membership of these
groups is open to all members who are able to demonstrate a
professional connection to the work of the particular group.
Their purpose is to:
· Provide a forum for
members to raise issues and concerns and provide a forum to
bring together FPANZ members with allied interests, keeping them
up to date and improve the flow of industry-specific information
to and from members.

There
is a range of benefits accruing to members generally and to

industry direction and policy.

Eligibility to be elected to the Council and Board.

Eligibility for Certified Evacuation Consultant status.

Eligibility for StandardsNZ committee candidature.

Use
the FPANZ logo in advertising, on documents and on business
cards (limited to Ordinary Members who have signed-up to the
FPANZ Code of Ethical Conduct).

Receive discount registration to Conference, Seminars, workshops
and other FPANZ events.

Members

·

workshops and other FPANZ events.

Application Process

Download and
complete the relevant Application form.

Provide the following supporting
documentation:
·
Certificate of Incorporation (where applicable)
·
A profile of the applicant’s business
activities
· A brief CV for the applicant’s principal Director(s)
and/or senior manager(s) who will be directing the
applicant’s fire safety or fire protection activities,
including previous employment with period of employment,
roles, qualifications and relevant professional
memberships
·
A copy of current Public Liability
insurance
Policy
certificate.
· Names and contact details of 3 unrelated referees, at
least two of which must be customers/clients.
2.
Download and complete the
Acceptance of the
FPANZ Code of Ethical Conduct form (this form is to
be completed by a person duly authorized to sign on
behalf of the organisation).
