Halon & BCF Responsible Disposal Project 2015 -2017
Time is running out !! Contact us now !!
The Fire Protection Association of NZ (FPANZ) is pleased to announce of their project to recover and dispose of Halon & BCF extinguishers from commercial users and private owners. This is a continuation of the successful work undertaken over many years previously by Halon Recycling and FPANZ.
We are encouraging members of the public to check their boats, cars, workshops, caravans and planes to see if they have a yellow extinguisher and if so to call in to one of our many member sites so these units can be replaced.
There will be a small cost to change, however both the public and the environment will benefit as we can be sure new systems will operate in event of a fire and the impact on the ozone layer will be reduced
The servicing of Halon extinguishers is not available and there are fears that systems and hand extinguishers have not been serviced and may fail in the event of a fire. Just like smoke detectors fire extinguishers should be checked annually by a FPANZ certified agent details of approved agents are below.
