Welcome to FIRE-NZ 2010

The theme for 2010

FIRE-NZ is now recognised as the fire protection event of each year. We continue this year with the theme of “Sustainability – Heritage of the Future”. Sustainability in our built environment is now recognised as an integral part of a buildings design, construction and operation.

Fire protection systems have a large part to play in making our buildings not only safe but sustainable. Our children and grandchildren will suffer the consequences of the problems that we leave behind. This conference aims to examine these concepts. From academic papers to practical presentations of new products that can enhance our environment both now and into the future we aim to provide a broad forum where solutions can be explored. This will be the heritage we bequeath to future generations.

The promotion of fire protection systems in buildings is clearly recognised as effective life safety and is now becoming recognised for its role in preservation of not only life but also the protection of our valuable built environment.

The loss of a building can have far reaching effects on our lifestyle when buildings of major importance to our lives are lost, be it our business, sporting arena, entertainment or art centre.

This year FIRE–NZ 2010 will again be a collaborative event between the Fire Protection Association New Zealand and the Institution of Fire Engineers New Zealand Branch.
