Since forming in February 1975 The Fire Protection Association New Zealand (FPANZ) a not for profit member organization is the national body for fire safety that provides information, services and education to the fire protection industry and the community at large. With a mission statement and ongoing focus being.
“To provide a professional forum and be the unified voice of the fire protection industry by drawing on our expertise and collective knowledge to reduce the impact of fire in New Zealand”
We are here to assist our members and the wider community in relation to Fire Protection.
The Fire Protection Association of NZ (FPANZ) is pleased to announce of their project to recover and dispose of Halon extinguishers from commercial users and private owners. This is a continuation of the successful work undertaken over many years previously by Halon Recycling and FPANZ.
There will be a cost to change, however both the public and the environment will benefit as we can be sure new systems will operate in event of a fire and the impact on the ozone layer will be reduced
The servicing of Halon extinguishers is not available and there are fears that systems and hand extinguishers have not been serviced and may fail in the event of a fire. Just like smoke detectors fire extinguishers should be checked annually by a FPANZ certified agent details of approved agents are below.
